The University of Auckland’s School of Architecture and Planning will showcase two student exhibitions in this year’s Architecture Week.

Urban Generators: Dense Haus & Pile-Up

Urban Generators: Dense Haus & Pile-Up exhibits a sample of student work from the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of Auckland which focussed enquiry into the intensification of urban housing as a catalyst for urban and social growth.

The fourth year DENSE HAUS studio engaged with the question of low-rise high-density infill housing with a target density of up to 100 dwellings/hectare.

The second year PILE-UP studio posited an assemblage of live-work units mixing residential and productive capacities in a former warehouse district now morphing into a much denser and higher zone of office, retail and housing.

The Best of Studio

The selection of work, ranging across five year levels, amply demonstrates the broad range of topics, media and project scales which are undertaken in the course of a School year. It stands as a testament to both the collective endeavour of architecture studios, as well to the exceptional individual abilities and unwavering commitment to architectural expression and communication.

The projects presented are selected from a much larger exhibition curated by Associate Professor Uwe Rieger and his Open Media Lab team for the quinquennial National Visiting Panel at the School of Architecture and Planning, University of Auckland.
