Llewelyn Jones Piano Composition Competition

Formerly known as the Llewelyn Jones Prize in Music for Piano, this unique prize was established in 1993 from a bequest in Jones' will with the intention of fostering the composition and performance of newly composed works for the piano.

Now in its third year, this prize was established to encourage students to study early music, and to develop and grow their knowledge and skills in this highly specialised area. Made possible through the generous support of long-standing supporter and donor, Ms Anna Nathan.

Established in 2014 by the friends and family of Graham Allen, these unique prizes encourage voice students to perform musical theatre repertoire.

Auckland Chamber Music Society Prize Concert
Music Theatre, School of Music
6 Symonds Street, Auckland Central.
Free admission.
Presented in association with Chamber Music Zealand, the Auckland Chamber Music Society Prize is awarded to the best chamber music ensemble at the School of Music. After an intensive week of chamber music examinations, up to four ensembles are selected to compete in the final.
The judging panel will include special guest judge Ioana Cristina Goicea, winner of the 2017 Michael Hill International Violin Competition.
- A cash prize of $3,000 to be shared equally amongst members of the group.
- Each group member also receives Chamber Music New Zealand 2019 Subscription Season FlexiVouchers

Douglas Lilburn Trust Composition Competition

The annual Douglas Lilburn Trust Composition Prize Concert is the major event on the School of Music’s composition and sonic arts calendar. Prizes from the Lilburn Trust are awarded by an adjudication panel to the top student composers and performers.
