Professional Teaching Fellow

David has had a long career as solo performer, chamber musician, accompanist, concerto soloist and performer of new music, with a wide repertoire ranging from critically acclaimed performances of Bach's Goldberg Variations to the only NZ performances of Stockhausen's Kontakte. He studied with Janetta McStay, Aloys Kontarsky, Wilhelm Hecker, and members of the Amadeus Quartet.

After many years of private teaching, David joined the School of Music as an Artist-Teacher, and now as Professional Teaching Fellow. Aside from all the standard repertoire he has a special interest in exploring the ways in which new knowledge about historical performance practice can influence a modern pianist's playing of baroque and classical music.
