Michael studied at the Messiaen Academy (Masters of Music) in The Netherlands and the Conservatoire National de Région de Strasbourg in France with Johan van der Linden and Philippe Geiss respectively (made possible with the Patricia Pratt Scholarship and a Creative NZ study grant). He previously completed his Bachelors and Honours study at NZSM, Wellington. Michael is a saxophonist with the Royal NZ Navy Band and is in demand as a freelance orchestral and chamber musician, working with such groups as the NZSO, Auckland Philharmonia, Dutch Radio Chamber Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Rata Trio and Hanumi Saxophone Quartet. Michael is a D'Addario Woodwinds and Selmer-Paris Saxophones Performing Artist.
