Biography

Nicola is currently Principal Horn of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO). She has performed as a soloist with the APO, the Eugene Symphony (Oregon, USA) the Southern Sinfonia, the St Matthews Chamber Orchestra and the National Youth Choir. She has also played as a guest principal with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra (Texas, USA). She holds a diploma from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, and a Bachelor of Music degree from Victoria University of Wellington. During her years in Philadelphia Nicola played with The Philadelphia Orchestra, The Philadelphia Opera Co., The Philly Pops and the Concerto Soloists Chamber Orchestra. She also participated in the 1st American Soviet Youth Orchestra and the 4th International Festival of Music in Lima, Peru. Nicola has former students playing professionally both in New Zealand and abroad. Many of her students have successfully undertaken international study, and are often participants in the New Zealand Youth Orchestra.
