Purchased by the University from TVNZ in 2000, the historic building now called the Kenneth Myers Centre was then authentically restored and renovated. Downstairs are dance studios, music practice rooms, video edit suites and other facilities for teaching and studying the creative and performing arts, while the upstairs areas were refurbished with the help of art lover and fashion designer Gus Fisher’s generosity, to become The University of Auckland’s art gallery.

With its neo-Romanesque 1930s architecture and spectacular internal dome, the Gus Fisher Gallery is a lovely venue not just for exhibitions but also for daytime, after-hours and weekend events. Product launches, poetry readings, cocktail parties, seated dinners and lunches, lectures and weddings all occur at the gallery. A special viewing or tour of our major exhibitions combined with drinks or dinner is also available. For more information, please download the Frequently Asked Questions pdf below.
