Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Arts (PGDipFA)
Quick facts — PGDipFA
|
Overview
The Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Arts (PGDipFA) integrates studio practice and critical studies. You will work on your own studio-based research projects, supported by studio critiques, group tutorials, critical studies seminars and reading groups, studio critiques and one-on-one meetings with your supervisor(s).
Focusing on the production of artistic works, the programme aims to develop your practice to its full potential, and to expand your understanding of contemporary art and design in their various cultural contexts. It is expected that written components will account for approximately 20% of the course work, with the 80% balance of the submission consisting of design and/or artistic works.
Entry to the PGDipFA requires completion of a four year Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Degree (or equivalent) with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of ‘B’ or higher in the final year of study. If you have not achieved the required GPA score we may consider offering a tailored set of courses that will assist you to qualify for entry to the PGDipFA. This is termed a 'Transitional Certificate' (TransCert). To enter a transitional programme your independent portfolio of work would need to be at an equivalent standard to that of graduates of the third year of the Bachelor of Fine Arts who have achieved a B grade or higher.
Please note: if you have a degree in another discipline but have maintained a professional practice as an artist for some years we may consider an application for direct entry into the Postgraduate Diploma of Fine Arts (PGDipFA). Please contact Elam School of Fine Arts.
