National Institute of Creative Arts and Industries
Window
Window is a contemporary art project showcase with onsite and online premises, running parallel programs of experimental media and virtual art.
Students across the disciplines at the University – artists, designers, writers, academics and engineers – collaborate to display their work and interact with their audiences via Window. With an online component viewable on its website, and a prime location in the foyer of the University Library on Alfred Street, the gallery’s exhibitions are seen by tens of thousands of people every week.
Projects premiered at Window have gone on tour to New Plymouth’s Govett-Brewster Art Gallery and to Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts. Voted by Metro magazine as one of the top ten of New Zealand’s most influential contemporary art spaces in 2007, Window has launched the careers of many postgraduate students as curators, writers and artists.
