Creative showcase

Individual and group music-making opportunities are a vitally important element of life in the School of Music. Students perform regularly on campus and the School produces several large-scale concerts each year, showcasing  a broad spectrum of musical genres. Here are some examples of recent work.


Codie Childs - Thread

Thread (2011) is an interactive installation created by Masters student Codie Childs as part of her Master of Music portfolio work. Demonstration performed by Codie Childs.

The Bayonets - Monsters in My Head

School of Music students Phil Austen, Martin Paris and Paul Robertson formed the group ‘The Bayonets’ in mid 2008.


Alex Taylor – Fiend Lyric

A new work by composer Alex Taylor, performed by Alex MacDonald (viola).

Auckland JazzFest

The School of Music annually hosts Auckland JazzFest, which incorporates performances from local and international jazz musicians.
