Scholarships, prizes and awards

There are various scholarships and awards available to help finance your studies. Some of these are open for all areas of study and others are specifically for the study disciplines within NICAI.

Below is a selection of scholarships available for future first-year undergraduate students:

University-wide scholarships

  • The University of Auckland Scholarships — tuition and compulsory fees + $2,500 or $5,000 + 2 fares home
  • The University of Auckland Alumni Scholarships — $2,500 tuition fees assistance
  • The University of Auckland Jubilee Awards — $2,000

Scholarships for Māori and Pacific students

  • The University of Auckland Chancellor’s Awards for Top Māori or Pacific Scholars — tuition and compulsory fees + $2,500 or first year accommodation

Scholarships for international students

  • New Zealand Development Scholarship (Public Category) Undergraduate — tuition fees + accommodation + return economy flights + living allowance.

NICAI-specific scholarships

  • The Canterbury Architects’ Scholarship — at least $2,000 (Canterbury resident)
  • George Turner Wilson Music Trust Scholarships Junior Awards — $2,500
  • Pears-Britten Scholarship in Singing — $1,200
  • Spring Scholarship for String Players — up to $1,000

There are also a number of additional scholarships available to provide ongoing financial support in subsequent years of study, as well as annual prizes awarded for excellence in a particular field.
