National Institute of Creative Arts and Industries
NICAI Research Toolkit
Our website is an important source of information for current and future students, staff and the wider community. All these audiences expect to find comprehensive, up-to-date profiles of our academic staff, including their research interests and activities, either via search or when browsing the site.
The Research Toolkit has been developed to help you compile your profile information in the right format for the web. You can access the Toolkit via the quick link at right. Login instructions are on the introductory page. If you are new to the Toolkit, we suggest you download the step-by-step tutorial PDF and print it out, or have it open in a different window on your screen while you are using the Toolkit.
How your profile appears on the NICAI website
The staff details in bold below are required for all members of permanent academic staff. New staff members will need to fill out the staff profile form (download the Word doc at top right of this page) and send it to your school\programme manager, who will forward the information to the NICAI web team. You can request updates to this "above the line" part of your profile by clicking on the "Preview research profile" button in the Research Toolkit (see the Research Toolkit tutorial).
The remaining sections (your research profile) will only display on the web page if you enter the content into the Research Toolkit yourself, and then release it to the web team for publication (see the Research Toolkit tutorial).

Academic research profiles
We need you to provide up-to-date information about your areas of research and special interests as well as your activities and achievements. This information is stored on a live database and fed into the NICAI website to form your research profile.
Content that you enter into the Toolkit will display on the website under the following headings (if you have no content for a particular section, leave the field blank).
Current research
(Up to 100 words)
I am currently using sculpture to address issues of landscape, specifically the intersection of subjectivity with the social, economic, and political production of space.

Note: This limited capacity for media attachments is due to the fragility of the current database. When the new UoA staff directory comes online in Q4 2011 or Q1 2012, uploading multimedia and images will be simpler and better supported by the system.
