Staff Excellence Awards

NICAI Teaching Excellence Awards

The NICAI Teaching Excellence Awards recognise and promote excellence in teaching within the Faculty’s schools/programmes.  They are consistent with University-level Teaching Excellence Awards and are intended to promote an active, reflective approach to teaching and to encourage NICAI staff to further develop their applications for submission to the University-level awards.

NICAI offers two Teaching Excellence Awards annually, one each for:

  • Early Career Teaching Excellence; and
  • Sustained Teaching Excellence.

2010 winners:
NICAI Early Career Teaching Excellence Award: Dr Leonie Holmes
NICAI Sustained Teaching Excellence Award: Associate Professor John Elmsly

2011 winners
NICAI Early Career Teaching Excellence Awards: Michael Davis and Dr Nicholas Rowe
NICAI Sustained Teaching Excellence Award: Dr Rae de Lisle

NICAI Early Career Research Excellence Award

The NICAI Early Career Research Excellence Award recognises and promotes excellence among emerging researchers within the faculty.  It is consistent with University-level Early Career Research Excellence Awards in terms of eligibility (those who completed their PhD or equivalent no more than eight years ago and are in the early years of developing a research career) and is intended to encourage NICAI staff to further develop their applications for submission to the University-level awards the following year.

Dean's Award for Leadership

The Dean’s Award for Academic Leadership recognises individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership behaviours and who contribute to the effective and efficient functioning of the NICAI’s academic, research and/or service activities.

NICAI Professional Staff Excellence Award

The Professional Staff Excellence Award recognises individuals or teams who exemplify outstanding service in the support of NICAI and its schools/programme.  Awards are given for exceptional performance of the responsibilities of the position held and for outstanding contribution to the NICAI and/or schools/programme strategic objectives.

2010 winner: Sonya Korohina
2011 winners: Ross Collinson and Struan Hamilton
