Summer Scholarships
Each year, NICAI offers a number of Summer Scholarships to foster student research projects during the summer months, prior to enrolment in one of our postgraduate programmes. Each scholarship provides a $5000 stipend for the student and $1000 towards expenses incurred by the research project.
Summer projects are an excellent, cost-effective method for focusing research effort to meet targets over a relatively short time frame. Work undertaken by scholarship holders in summers past has made significant contributions to staff research projects, hastening completion and in some cases broadening their scope. Summer Scholarship students can also help staff to complete publications and write project proposals for external grant agencies.
To be eligible, students must:
- have completed a postgraduate degree or diploma, or second-year coursework for an undergraduate degree at any New Zealand or international university
- intend to enrol in a NICAI postgraduate degree.
Students are ineligible if they:
- will be employed as tutors on Summer School;
- will be working part-time in the University or outside;
- are currently enrolled in an Honours, research Masters or PhD. Students enrolled in postgraduate diploma and professional masters programmes may be considered;
- have previously been awarded two summer scholarships.
Applications for the 2011/12 round of NICAI Summer Research Scholarships have now closed. Please check back in the middle of 2012 for information about applying for the 2012/2013 round of funding.
