In the video game No Man’s Sky, players are free to perform within the entirety of a procedurally generated deterministic open universe, which includes star systems, planets and their ecosystems, flora and fauna.
Mimicking our lifeworld is nothing new, but in a time of increasing simulation and hyper-reality it makes us question more than ever what it means to be human, and what exactly reality is.
I Do What You Do You Do What I Do seeks to set up a non-deterministic open platform comprising four different players with varying practices. The work explores the tension between artificial and natural, thing and body – by drawing out metaphor and offering critique.
The exhibition will feature work by Adam Ben-Dror, Sarah Callesen, Ada Leung, Andrew Rankin.
