Following on from the School of Architecture and Planning's success in the recent Best Awards, the School is celebrating another record number of nominations in 2017 NZ Wood Resene Timber Design Awards.

Professor Andrew Barrie has been nominated for his work on Cathedral Grammar School, which picked up a Gold Pin in the Best Awards. The school, built as part of the post-earthquake reconstruction in Christchurch, has been nominated in two categories; Commercial Archiecture Excellence and Engineering Innovation

Senior Lecturer Mike Davis, under the name ARK, is nominated in four categories. His Langs Bach project appears in three categories; the building in the Residential Architecture Excellence, and the feature doors, Langs Doors, in the Interior Innovation and NZ Specialty Timber Award class. His design, The Vessell, will also be considered in the NZ Timber Award category.

The winners will be announced at a special Gala Awards Dinner on 9 March 2017 at the Pullman Hotel in Auckland.
